File:Latvia flag medium.pngLatvia is a small country in Northern Europe (Baltics), but due to its history it is often considered part of Eastern Europe, sometimes historically referred to as Livonia. The Latvian capital city is Riga. Latvia borders on Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, and the Baltic Sea. It is one of the three Baltic Republics and was part the Soviet Union from 1940 until 1991.
