Please note that with the birth of my beautiful daughter, Hailey, I may be too busy to engage with Misplaced Pages as I have done so in the past. While I am not taking a wikibreak, as such, I may reply to messages slowly or not at all when they are left here or elsewhere. This does not mean that I am not interested, simply that my daughter and wife are significantly more important and require more time than I have.

If you have an urgent issue, try bumping your thread (or your talkback) a couple of times. If that fails, then I suggest posting to WP:WPSCHOOLS, WP:EDAUS, or any other relevant Wikiproject.

DYK reminder

danjel, since you apparently haven't run across this before, DYK rules say that you are not supposed to sign off on a hook that you yourself have proposed. It's made very clear in WP:DYKSG#H2: "You're not allowed to approve your own hook or article." I ran across two instances today while scouting for hooks to promote, so I thought I ought to let you know right away. (When I build prep sets I'm hit with a double whammy: I shouldn't promote hooks I've proposed or approved.) It's not only a conflict of interest situation, but this way we keep the layers of double-checks intact. Once the original nominator expresses satisfaction with the new ALT, it's time to call in a new reviewer for final approval of it. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:48, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Ah, been a while since I read it. Thought it only applied to articles that you wrote or noms where you were likely to get credit. Actually, that seems a little overly bureaucratic. For it to be a conflict of interest, there has to be some benefit that would come to me from having a hook that I rewrote promoted. I don't think there is.. Further, for the sake of expediency, particularly with nominations that have gone unnoticed for a while, it would seem that this hinders reviews. But, whatever, I'll go back through and check and then unstrikethrough them at WT:DYK. Thanks for letting me know ˜danjel  00:55, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
The reason I think it's important is that people tend to be less careful checking a hook that they've just devised: my experience is that the source checking is more likely not to be done (or done well) if the person created the hook from the article's text. This includes making sure of the inline source citation and actually reading said source. It happens with unfortunate frequency: it's happened to me in my hook suggestions, much as I mean to guard against it, and it happened to you just today. I think it's a useful rule. What? ˜danjel  01:50, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I was referring to the nomination. I've fixed everything in ALT2, and photo is out of the nom. --George Ho (talk) 01:52, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh right. I'll look over it again when I'm not trying to also feed a 10 month old. ˜danjel  01:54, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Danjel, the factual issues have all been ironed out, and some new hooks have been suggested. If you have time, I was wondering whether you'd be interested in coming back to review the article changes and associated hooks. Many thanks, and I hope your new year has been a good one so far. Re: Murdoch University

Hi Danjel, Thanks for the support. Yes, WP:PRESERVE was what I was looking for. I'd recalled the ANI discussion, and re-read it after replying to Epeefleche's message. I don't mind that kind of editing if it's about obscure facts that are hard to source reliably; I do mind it though when it entails removal of a whole section about the largest campus on a university. I'd help you out but I have to be on a plane to Melbourne for a Wikimedia Australia board meeting in a few hours. Graham87 23:52, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

I've just added signatures/timestamps to the top two comments on your talk page. Not only are unsigned messages my pet peeve, but they are also never archived by MiszaBot. Therefore, my act of signing the messages ensures that they will be archived on the next bot run. Hope you don't mind. Graham87 00:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
A user conduct RFC, perhaps? I've never been involved in one in a significant way before, but I'd be willing to certify one in this case. Graham87 03:36, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Done. Graham87 05:59, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 14

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited UC Senior Secondary College Lake Ginninderra, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Anderson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

All Hallows' School

I have researched the Notable Alumnae section and have been unable to find sourcing for certain alumnae, but sourced references there and at the appropriate WP bio where possible. Please source or remove per WP:BLP. You may find my notes at Talk:All Hallows' School helpful. ClaudeReigns (talk) 07:35, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Why is this my job? With a 24 hour WP:DEADLINE? ˜danjel  07:37, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
BLP letter states remove immediately. I am being generous. It seems like you are into the topic, and I want to give you a chance to help the section conform to policy. ClaudeReigns (talk) 07:40, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
