O2 Arena

Surely it should be O2 Arena with a capital 'A'? Feudonym (talk) 00:07, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Still no objections.. will make the move unless anyone disagrees. Feudonym (talk) 23:28, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Britney

Britney is performing all her U.K performances in the 02 arena i think this should be added to notiable peformances or performers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 0l3oodrush0 (talkcontribs) 21:59, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

American-style arena

The main article says this is the first "American-style" arena in the U.K. What does "American-style" arena mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.146.0.171 (talk) 06:52, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I was just thinking that, I'll take it out of the article until someone can say what it means Dupont Circle (talk) 13:18, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

why is "arena" not initial capped in title? can find no discussion in article about this oddity

would expect to see article titled "The O2 Arena" and in first sentence "The O2 Arena"

is this some quirk to the place?

--71.183.238.134 (talk) 02:10, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

If the official name of the building is "The O2 Arena", then the a should be capitalized. If it is just "The O2", then it should be lower-case. From these articles I get the impression that "The O2" is properly the name of the entire complex, of which the arena is just part, but the articles are so confusing I can't say for sure. Apparently every Londoner has opinions on the subject, but surely there are official documents (NOT marketing materials) somewhere that could be referenced, and the article could be made more clear for non-Londoners. What do they call the place in court documents or incorporation papers? 24.19.56.18 (talk) 16:45, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
You're correct, the O2 arena is a part of (building within) "the O2" (complex). had a brief search for official documents but surely any planning docs will only refer to "the O2" - the buildings inside it can be called anything they like? the O2 uses lower case 'arena' on signage,on the website, and in their t&cs. I'm not sure where else to look! Paulbrock (talk) 22:17, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Millennium Dome?

I understand there was some controversy over these articles, and the move to "O2 Arena", but the solution you've arrived at here is total confusion. It doesn't answer any of the most obvious questions a person would come to Misplaced Pages for. IS this the Millennium Dome? Was it just rebranded? Or is it a different structure? Is just the roof the same, with everything under it different? Is it in the exact same location, or is it, you know, next door where the parking lot was? Seriously, I want to know -- that's why I came here -- but I've read both articles and both talk pages and I still don't know. Nice job. 24.19.56.18 (talk) 16:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Well in answer to your query, it's the same structure (basically a big canopy) but everything inside was drastically changed. There are new buildings underneath the canopy - the arena, bars and restaurants and the cinema, but it's the same roof, in the same place, that was used for the Millennium Dome. Paulbrock (talk) 21:54, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
I've added a bit more context to this article's 'background' section, but I'm sure my fellow editors can improve on it. Paulbrock (talk) 22:08, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Ordering of Performances

The ordering is sometimes mixed up. It is most logical to put them in chronological order.Facial (talk) 21:20, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I've put them into chronological order and I'll leave a big note to future editors that they need to put and additions in at the correct point in the list. 82.20.254.154 (talk) 11:26, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Trinity

Trinity College Cambridge owns the O2 Arena. Go figure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.8.102 (talk) 22:35, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

The O2 arena (London)The O2 Arena (London) — "Arena" is part of the name and thud should be capitalized. The only reason it isn't is because some editor though we should use stylized formatting that the arena owner uses rather than MOSTM. TJ Spyke 15:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

  • Support, but not for the reasons. This hinges on the question: "what is the most common name for the venue?" Is it "The O2", or "The O2 Arena"? Personally, I believe it is the former. However, The O2 (London) article is focuses on the complex the arena is in, which I (still, ten years on) refer to as the Dome. So, we're at an impasse here. Instead, we should look at articles where the word "arena" is not said in common parlance, i.e. the M.E.N. and Wembley. Hence, to be consistent, I believe the word "Arena" should be capitalised. Basketball

I have removed the sentence about the Raptors being the first team to lose in three countries. The NBA has played regular season games in Japan and for example, the Clippers have lost games in Japan, Canada and the USA before. Deficitattentionprogram (talk) 20:08, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
