Other interested parties may want to follow the conversation; I watchlist all pages as needed.
  • Non-autoconfirmed and IP users, you may if you wish to comment on my subpage here.

Admin coaching

Hello. I noticed your request for a coach over at Admin coaching, and I'm available. If you do not currently have an admin coach, I would be glad to be your coach. I do have a few of conditions though, and they are that you:

  1. watch your coaching page closely, and reply to every post there in a timely fashion
  2. fill in all of your edit summaries (if you find yourself forgetting, there's a setting in "my preferences" that will remind you)
  3. complete all the assignments you are given to the best of your ability. If you have trouble with an assignment, by all means, let me know, so we can discuss possible solutions and alternatives.
  4. don't go for your RfA or accept an RfA nomination except from me - I will nominate you when I believe you are ready

Please let me know if you agree, and we can get started.

I look forward to your reply.

King of 02:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I have created the page User:Sjones23/Admin coaching, from which I will coordinate the coaching. Right now, it's pretty much blank, but I'll add more to it as we go. Be sure to check on it regularly. I'll start off by asking you the standard RfA questions on the page. Best regards, King of 03:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Qui

Hi. I would recommend that you get Qui, a tool that allows users to view each other's status more easily. This way, I can know when it is convenient to contact you, and vice versa. After you get it, just add me to your friends list. Note: It doesn't work very well in Internet Explorer, so if you have that, might be time to get Firefox. -- King of 23:05, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Admin coaching (2)

Have you read my note at User:Sjones23/Admin coaching? Sorry I didn't make this clear at the beginning, but when you have read a comment of mine on any of the coaching pages, please reply to acknowledge receipt of the comment. -- King of 15:57, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi. You might want to see the new note I added to User:Sjones23/Admin coaching. (Don't forget to watchlist your admin coaching page if you haven't done so already. I general, reply to every message I add, even if your reply is just "OK I got it." This way I know that you read it.) Cheers, King of 03:30, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Sorry I haven't contacted you in a long time. I was actually a little busy myself. So how is it going? If you have anything new to add, anything you learned, or any questions you would like to ask me, feel free to make a comment at User:Sjones23/Admin coaching#July 2009. -- King of 18:17, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Just checking up

GOCE November 2012 copy edit drive update

Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter
  • Participation: Out of 31 people signed up for this drive so far, 22 have copy-edited at least one article. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Template:J
  • Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive. We have reduced our target group of articles—November and December 2011—by over 50%, and 34 of the the 56 requests made in September and October this year have already been fulfilled. However, the rate of tagging for copy edit has increased, and this month we are just keeping the size of the backlog stable. So, all you copy editors, please do come along and help us!
  • The September 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest was won by Baffle gab1978 for his copy edit of Expulsion of the Acadians. Runner up was Gareth Griffith-Jones for his edit of I Could Fall in Love. Congratulations to both.
  • The October 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the discussion and voting stage until midnight November 30 (UTC). You don't have to make a submission to vote!
  • November 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is in the submissions stage until midnight November 30 (UTC), when discussion and voting begin.
  • Seasonal oversight: We had a slight fall from grace in the title of our last newletter, which mentioned the season in the northern hemisphere and thus got it wrong for the southern. Fortunately an observant GOCE member was ready to spring into action to advise us. Thanks! In future we'll stay meteorologically neutral.

Talkback

Hello, Sjones23. You have new messages at JDC808's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

--JDC808 02:06, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Would I list myself as a Certifier on there? --JDC808 04:56, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Yes. It needs at least two people to certify this dispute within 48 hours after creating the RFC and we should provide diffs of the comments. As with anywhere else on this RfC/U, links to entire articles aren't helpful unless the editor created the entire article. Edit histories also aren't helpful as they change as new edits are performed. Also, we should consider adding differences to the Evidence of disputed behavior section. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:02, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I've never had to do one of these so I was just a little confused. Working on expanding a couple of spots, then I will leave my comments as the 2nd certifier. --JDC808 05:04, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
No problem. By the way, you can also read and review Misplaced Pages:Requests_for_comment/User_conduct/Guidance and WP:RFC/U for further information about how we do things at WP:RFC/U. Hope this helps. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:13, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Do we also have to comment under "Users certifying the basis for this dispute"? --JDC808 07:02, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Yes. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 07:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Okay. --JDC808 07:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

GOCE November drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up

Participation: Thanks to all who participated! Out of 38 people who signed up this drive, 33 copy-edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. All the barnstars have now been distributed.

Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing November and December 2011 from the backlog. For the first time since the drives began, the backlog consists only of articles tagged in the current year. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2690 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 56 requests outstanding before November 2012 as well as eight of those made in November.

Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the October 2012 competition, and prizes have been issued. The November 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The December 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote.

Coodinator election: The six-month term for our fourth tranche of Guild coordinators will expire at the end of December. Nominations are open for the fifth tranche of coordinators, who will serve from 1 January to 30 June 2013. For complete information, please have a look at the election page.

Heya

In an attempt to get past the impasse that has been reached re the capitalisation of I in intro on the Star Trek into Darkness article, I have created two additional sub-sections where users can put their for/against argument comments in without getting caught up in Beating a dead horse. These sections are purely for providing reasons and not for arguing back and forth, although discussions are welcome to continue in the above section. If you could come and give your view that would be great. MisterShiney 21:22, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words and helpful suggestions. Best wishes, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:34, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

GOCE mid-December newsletter

End of Year Events from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in its events:

  • The December 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is currently in the submissions stage. Submit your best December copy edit there before the end of the month. Submissions end, and discussion and voting begin, on January 1 at 00:00 (UTC).
  • Voting is in progress for the November 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest. Everyone is welcome to vote, whether they have entered the contest or not.
  • From Sunday 16 December to Saturday 22 December, we are holding a Project Blitz, in which we will copy edit articles tagged with {{copyedit}} from January 2012. The blitz works much like our bimonthly drives, but a bit simpler. Everyone is welcome to take part, and barnstars will be awarded.
  • January 2013 Backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on January 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on January 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copy edit all articles tagged in January, February, and March 2012 and complete all requests placed before the end of 2012. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in January, February, and March 2012", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest.

Coodinator election: Nominations are open for candidates to serve as GOCE coordinators from 1 January to 30 June 2013. Nominations close on December 15 at 23:59 UTC, after which voting will run until the end of December. For complete information, please have a look at the election page.

One Piece

There seems to be a little issue with the One Piece episode page for season 15, the main villian's name is HODY Jones, not HORDY. I blame Funimation/TOEI for this as their subs have his name as Hordy. Regardless of the translation error, Oda has confirmed that the character's name is Hody Jones. I would appreciate it if you would please not revert it. OneBucPerson (talk) 03:20, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, even though Oda has confirmed it is Hody and it has been used in Viz's manga spelling, the official English subtitled version of the spells it as Hordy. Also, you have violated the WP:3RR rule within 24 hours and it can lead you to a block if you continue to edit war. It would be much more appropriate to raise your concerns on the article talk page and get other editors involved. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 08:24, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
I added the footnote to the two related pages concerning Hody vs. Hordy, now that both are sourced. Please review. AngusWOOF (talk) 19:19, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Colombian armed conflict, wrong move

Hi Sjones23. I think you made a mistake when you moved the Colombian conflict page to Colombian Civil War. If you read more carefully the talk page you'll spot the mistake. What we agreed on was that the name had to be changed to Colombian conflict (1964–present).--Forich (talk) 03:15, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

My apologies. I fixed up the mistake though. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:21, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
I removed the speedy delete tag on the redirect page Colombian civil war - although arguable this should redirect to a disambiguation page as there have been quite a few civil wars in Colombian history. See List of wars involving Colombia.

RE; Seasons Greetings

Thanks for the kind words. I have enjoyed working with you on Misplaced Pages, and I hope we can continue to work together in the future. (Also, I hope I didn't "rain on your parade" with my comments at WP:VG regarding making Sonic a featured topic. I just wanted to give my two cents that it might be difficult, as it seems I'm almost constantly dealing with difficult Users/IPs at articles related to Sonic - surely if you ever have, or ever do, go through my contributions on a given day, you'd probably see what I'm getting at...) A technical question about The Matrix article

Well, you added something about anchor in The Matrix article's accolade section. Out of curiosity, what does that do? What does that tag anchor the section do? I'll keep the answer for future reference; I just wanna learn. Thanks. Anthonydraco (talk) 02:50, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

You may want to take a look at Misplaced Pages:Linking#Section linking (anchors). Does this answer your question? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:08, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
It does. Thank you. Although I cannot say I am techy enough to utilize the feature in the near future. :P I do not see any other part in the article that target here, though. I assume that you put this in so links from outside this article can come here if need be? Anthonydraco (talk) 04:35, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I think so. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:42, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Working out the details at Misplaced Pages:Today's article for improvement

The RFC for TAFI is nearing it's conclusion, and it's time to hammer out the details over at the project's talk page. There are several details of the project that would do well with wider input and participation, such as the article nomination and selection process, the amount and type of articles displayed, the implementation on the main page and other things. I would like to invite you to comment there if you continue to be interested in TAFI's development. --NickPenguin(contribs) 02:27, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Are you familiar with Bambifan101 vandalism and talking style?

It seems that you know him, so I would like to ask you if you're familiar with his older incarnations or talking style. I do not know where he operates, so I can't check anything back then. From the list of people who report his socks on sock investigation, most users who have dealt with him more than once have retired. The current suspected sock has respond to my message. Can you take a look at and tell me what you think? Anthonydraco (talk) 11:53, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

His IP geolocates to Texas, and BF101 is from Alabama. Also BF101 has serious grammar issues with his comments. I am actually familiar with BF101 and have been reverting this user's edits for a long time along with McDoobAU93. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:33, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I believe you know this already, but I've added the link to your response to the sockpuppet investigation page; I just think I should tell you. More than one user, including me, suspect that a new user is the case. The spelling's different. Once I learned that this user's location is quite different from Bambifan101, I asked around. Gotta give this user a fair chance. Anthonydraco (talk) 23:04, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I think he is just a newcomer. We do not want to bite him. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:23, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi there

Hi there Sjones! I saw you have posted a lot regarding the video games wiki project and I was wondering if you could help me re-assess Crusader Kings II's quality rating since so much content has been added since it was originally rated a start class article, I don't feel comfortable enough doing it myself. I appreciate any advice you can offer on the matter.  daintalk   14:44, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Sonic R

So, I realize it may fall outside of your scope of fixing up a lot of the "main" Sonic games, but I've recently did a lot of clean up at Sonic R. (It was pretty terrible before I started.) Just an FYI. Sergecross73 msg me 17:42, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

That is interesting to know. By the way, I also plan to take this to GA and am willing to help out as well. A good example to follow is Crash Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart, both of which are GAs. Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 22:50, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll keep working on it, using those articles as reference points. Feel free to join in whenever. (No rush if you feel like working on other things you're doing right now. I know sometimes I get into an article and then it can feel like a chore working on other ones you're not as interested in.) Sergecross73 msg me 14:40, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Progress on WP:Snuggle and work log

I've been making some progress on Snuggle development recently and I could use your feedback. Specifically, I've created a work log that I plan to update every time I get a chance to work on Snuggle. My intention is that you'll be able to watch that page to track my progress so I can get your feedback on features when they are early in development. The most recent entry (also the only entry) discusses new functionality for interacting with newcomers via Snuggle. I posted some mockups in the work log that show how I imagine the new features to work and I could use some feedback before I start writing the code. Thanks! --EpochFail 20:29, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Re; MVBW

I hope you understand what I'm getting at. I don't believe you've done anything wrong, nor should you have to discuss anything you don't want to. I'm just saying, if he is going to address you on this, he should be addressing you elsewhere, where it's not an off-topic conversation. If he were to do that, you're certainly free to ignore him there too. Just wanted to make sure you understood that the point wasn't to try to tell you what to do, but rather, for him to discuss it somewhere else. Sergecross73 msg me 21:21, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

I see your point now and if I did anything wrong, them I am terribly sorry. Thank you for your helpful comments, as usual, Serge. I appreciate them very much. Best wishes, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:25, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

TAFI

Hello,
In the past few days, Today's Articles for Improvement has gone through many changes.

  • We have modified the process for adding Nominations, which now uses a template/table format and requires only 3 supports for an article to be selected.
  • There is now a Holding Area, where articles are kept for discussion before being selected for a particular date.
  • The TAFI schedule now involves adding 10 articles weekly, chosen from a variety of topics.
  • We now have an Accomplishments page where we will be highlighting our older TAFI articles which have now become quality articles on the Misplaced Pages.

The Project is almost ready to hit the Main Page, where it will be occupying a section just below "Did you Know" section. Three article from the weekly batch of 7 will be displayed randomly at the main page, the format of which can be seen at the Main Page sandbox. There is also an ongoing discussion at the Main page talk over the final details before we can go forward with the Main Page.

If you have any ideas to discuss with everyone else, please visit the TAFI Talk Page and join in on the ongoing discussions there. You are also invited to add new nominations, and comment and suport on the current ones at the Nominations page. You can also help by helping in the discussions at the Holding Area.

Above all, please do not forget to improve our current Today's Articles for Improvement

Thank you and hoping to have some productive work from you at the Project,

Doubts about Raiden (Metal Gear)

With the release of a new game with the franchise the article Raiden (Metal Gear) appears to be becoming kind of big. The creation and reception sections have big paragraphs and I can't tell if some of the part are undue weight or may require subsections and tidying to be easy to understand and navigate. Any comments would be useful. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 18:33, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

please make single posts

to boards like WP:AN instead of making multiple posts and editing. It's disruptive to other editors who might be reading your comments and considering a reply to keep changing them. You can use User:Sjones23/sandbox to get the phrasing you want before posting. I do it all the time -- in fact I've got User:NE_Ent/sandbox, User:NE_Ent/sandbox2,User:NE_Ent/sandbox3 and User:NE_Ent/sandbox5 going right now. NE Ent 20:59, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

I see your point now and apologize if I had to do that. I do not ever mean to be disruptive in doing so. I try not to edit too many when I post on my talk page. However, I leave important aspects out when I reply to them, that's why I choose to expand upon them. I might have phrased things badly, that's all. I can be such a jerk at times, but I mostly remain civil. Once again, please accept my apologies. By the way, I have decided to entirely back out from the AN discussion for my greater good and it's really time for me to focus writing on articles extensively. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 21:03, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Warning Since NE Ent warned you that your continual revising of posts at AN to which other users have already responded is disruptive, you have ignored the advice, and revised your prior posts eight(8) times as of the present count. After I posted links to your prior posts because of your disruptive changes of position, you first posted that your then-current position on an interaction ban was your "final" position...and then changed your position yet again. At least twice. I am not even going to attempt to count how many times you have posted at AN after repeatedly stating that you were "officially" disengaging from further discussion. You have made it abundantly clear that you are completely unwilling, or completely unable, to control your impulses or to take the advice of multiple editors and administrators about your conduct at AN. Talk about WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT Consider this a formal warning. Any further tendentious disruption of AN by you, and I will move for formal sanctions...and I am not talking about an interaction ban. Stop. Now. Fladrif (talk) 22:56, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
