I added "Octopussy" to the list of Tim Rice's film credits (he wrote the lyrics to the title-song); something called Tawker (?) has automatically reverted this edit. Not sure why. David C

STOP MESSING WITH MY WORK

JOSHBUDDY. YOU DID NOT CREATE FEDERALIST NO. 1. I DID. I CREATED THE ENTIRE ARTICLE.

I AM SICK OF[REDACTED] TREATING ME LIKE SHIT; THEREFORE, I WITHDRAW MY LABOUR FROM THE[REDACTED] SITE.

PLEASE STOP PUTTING MY WORK BACK ON THE SITE. I DO NOT WANT IT THERE.

Work released on Misplaced Pages, once written, cannot be removed simply because an author wishes to withdraw it. Once it has been entered into the site, it falls under the GDFL license, and the original author gives up most rights to the work. Do not harass users such as Joshbuddy because you are upset with Misplaced Pages. If you would like to talk about this policy, you can feel free to leave me a message. However, hostility such as the message you've left above is unacceptable, and further instances of such lapses in civility will be frowned upon. Truly, JDoorjam Talk 15:23, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

STOP REVERTING

I am trying to remove the work I have contributed to this site, because I am sick of being continually banned and ridiculed for no reason. If wikipedians are going to ban me and ridicule me then they do not have the benefit of my work. It is as simple as that. Stop reverting Federalist No.1 and Fiduciary. --Charlemagne the Hammer 07:07, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Tony vs. Tomm

S

Please excuse Tommstein, I don't think he likes me very much. ;-)

I do care about getting these articles edited well, and I appreciate your willingness to work with me. Contrary to "popular"(Tommstein's) opinion, it really is all in how you word things that dictates the reaction you will likely get. I have done my best to try to find actual points, and work with even the most vulgar and hostile posts, but it's frankly tiring and insulting. You're ray of sunshine in comparison.

Feel free to email me if you doubt my sincerity. - CobaltBlueTony 22:00, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Rest assured that your being a martyr-playing asshole has nothing to do with it. It is obviously completely coincidental that you became 'reasonable' as soon as I described your behavior when I saw everyone else getting frustrated at your bullshit too.Tommstein 22:20, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

You sir, are awarded a Barnstar

Just wanted to say that you're a champion for doing so much great work on the Jehovah's Witnesses-related pages. As such, I've placed a barnstar on your user page (though you'll probably want to move it somewhere else). Keep it up! --K. AKA Konrad West TALK 04:58, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Wow... i've never had an honor like this before. Umm... i don't even KNOW what to do with this .. where am I supposed to put it? Thank you. joshbuddy 05:04, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, you can just leave it where it is. ;) -- K. AKA Konrad West TALK 07:28, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Your Christianity Portal nomination

Hey Joshbuddy. I look after the Christianity Portal and was pleased with your nomination - the JW article is thorough and well referenced (over 100 refs!) I have replied on the nomination page and do not expect any objections. Could you write a concise summary of the article along with a suitable image to use? You can look at previous articles as a guide. Do also feel free to sign up to the portal. As a member, you are not obliged to do anything, but are free to make suggestions to improve the portal further. Anyway, all the best and see you round! Brisvegas 07:39, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

It would be best to put the summary at the nominations page. Once it is done, I will transfer it to the May 2006 section. Brisvegas 02:23, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
The "final version" has been uploaded for May 2006, you can see it at the archive. If you have any other suggestions, I will be happy to hear from you.
Regarding possilble FA status, I suggest you request a peer review, where other people can suggest and comment on your work. Personally, some suggestions I could make include that the current article is very long, which some people may gripe about. See if you can shorten the prose without losing any important info - sometimes less is more :) Also, the article should explain somewhere at the beginning what sets it apart from other religions. Good luck - I'm sure you'll get there! Brisvegas 09:31, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Reversion on TA Spring

Please take care to leave edit summaries when reverting anything other than obvious vandalism. The edit you reverted here was true, and is a good faith edit, and I've found a verifiable source for it. Reverting without an edit summary labels the edit in question as nothing better than simple vandalism, and is thus extremely humiliating for the party involved. Thanks, and Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Werdna648/C\ 07:19, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

(Copied from User talk:Werdna648): Sorry about that. It was my fault for not looking hard enough at the diff. Please accept my apologies.

The popup revision mechanism doesn't allow for leaving a meaningful comment, which was what I was using on recent changes patrol. Regardless, I should have been more careful on that particular edit. Thank you for referencing the change btw. joshbuddy 07:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I use popups, and you can actually set it up to prompt you for an edit summary. Just add the following line to your monobook.js:
popupRevertSummaryPrompt=true;

JW Template

The template for the JW related pages looks great!!! I wanted to have a play with it without ruining all of your fantastic work. I have been working on a slightly different layout on my user subpage. I would really like to know what you think. Lucille S 23:50, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your (very prompt) feedback. I can definitely see what you mean about the template getting very long, very quickly. I have tried to put some of the shorter entries onto the same line. I have also added Doctrines and Practices onto the same line so they can be easily merged at a later date.
I have added some crucial members and ex-members/critics. These in particular add to the length of the template. Do you think they need to be called by their full names in order to avoid confusion?
I am not fussed on what colour scheme is used. It was just an example of how the colours could help distinguish between the different levels of importance in the list. There are plenty of Colours to choose from.
If you were thinking of using this style of template - please feel free to play with it all you like.
Should we add a section to the Project page and send a message to each person on the participants list so that everyone can have a say on the template layout? It is pretty important as it will be one of the first things people see on every page.
Let me know what you think.Lucille S 02:33, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Sorry to be a pain but I wanted to clarify. Did you want me to add a link to my user subpage on the template discussion page so that others could decide if they wanted to use the layout or did you want me to overwrite the current template with the new one? Thought it would be better to ask first - stuff up later.Lucille S 04:00, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Wikilove? wikicivility?

Someone just swooped in and nominated the Wikihalo Award for deletion. What an incredibly inconsiderate move, that completely ignores the community of users trying to make[REDACTED] a friendlier place. Instead of discussing it on the talk pages of the award, or going to the Awards and Proposals page, Pepsidrinka just up and nominates it for deletion. Please go to this page and vote to keep the award. If nothing else because the deletion of the award is a smack down of trying to promote wikilove and wikicivility on wikipedia. evrik 22:03, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

User:Mathbot deleted my talk page on March 3rd. Kingjeff 20:44, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, That IS what I meant - NonBP

It's late, I'm tired, my brain hasn't worked properly in years, I really confused myself into knots there (and yes, I DO usually know better)!

Would you like a full time job cleaning up after my scattered head? Somebody should...

Thanks ;o) --Zeraeph 00:51, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

NonBP is only known or used in a very limited area, with strong and not entirely accurate bias. It's not formally recognised by the psychiatric or academic communities, and, just below the surface, very agenda driven. In essence it's the creation of one PR person with no formal training at all and a few axes to grind. (And, of course, as such, is "original research" too)
If you look closely you will find that anywhere the term or concept is used is in some way affiliated to the same people and the same agenda.
HOWEVER, leaving that aside, it's part of BPD, surely, not a topic on it's own? Otherwise the BPD article is unbalanced, and the NonBP verges on propaganda. --Zeraeph 02:39, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Not "others who choose to use it" Josh, just the people who created it as a concept and cynically sold it for their own ends, not for the good of those others AT ALL. Bluntly, I very much doubt if it ever helps anyone to be mislead.
What about the people with who did not choose to have BPD who are (unjustly and inaccurately) demonised by that same agenda? Surely that's even more unfair?
I just thought I'd add, that any relationship that hurts is hell, and anyone who hurts you is "the devil" in it, and that is how you are supposed to see it, so that you can protect your self esteem and, hopefully, either find a way to fix it, or move on. That has nothing to do with any personality disorder and shouldn't be related to one. --Zeraeph 11:41, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Tawkerbot2 and Whitelist

The whitelist currently employed by the CVU is now implemented in Tawkerbot2. If you're on that whitelist, then you shouldn't have any problems. :) joshbuddy 06:43, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

I obviously am not. I know a whitelist existed in the original code because I wrote it. Anyways I am discussing with Tawker. --Cool Cat 11:39, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Tawkerbot2 is an original creation. You didn't write it. It is not an IRC bot per se, but rather a vandalism detector. The IRC component (which I assume you had something to do with it) merely communicated with Tawkerbot2. joshbuddy 16:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
The bot relies on the IRC component to operate which I wrote. Without the irc component it wouldnt work at all. If I recall correctly tawkerbot on irc is a modified version of pgkbot which is a modified version of my code. Why the heck are you answering for Tawker, the person who modified the code? --Cool Cat 16:31, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Actually joshbuddy modified the code, I just run the box that runs it / give suggestions on filters / make a tiny tiny 1 line edit -- Tawker 19:43, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the information about the bot. I'm certainly interested in hosting the bot, as this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'll contact Tawker per your suggestion. —Viriditas | Talk 23:52, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

For Your Tireless Efforts

For your exceptional hard work in merging Beliefs and Practices on the JW Main Article and painstaking maintenance on all related articles. Your hard work is appreciated. Lucy 23:37, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

A long overdue kudos for a job well done! In particular I am referring to the painstaking job of gathering all of the information from the Jehovah’s Witnesses main article under the headings “Beliefs” and “Practices” and merging them together. Somehow you managed to retain all of the pertinent information whilst condensing the article to a more manageable size.

For your diligent and meticulous work I hereby award you the Tireless Contributor Barnstar Award. Your hard work on all related articles has been noticed and appreciated. Lucy 23:37, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism on Misplaced Pages:Introduction

The Introduction is a very high profile page that many first time visitors see. Unfortunately, User:Sandbot is not working correctly on the this page and vandalism has been staying longer. The latest time was a vandal edit at 11:21, 6 April 2006 that did not get reverted until 12:32, 6 April 2006. Is there some way you can have User:Tawkerbot2 help out on this page - the vandalism is simple: users change the first line of the page - or delete it all together - thus breaking the transclusion of the introduction template. If the first line is

{{Please leave this line alone}}

then the page will work fine - the usual editors who monitor the page can remove regular vandalism (nonsense, rude comments, defemation, etc), but removal or change of this line results in the page not working and presents a bad image of wikipedia. Preferrably the first two lines should always be:

{{Please leave this line alone}}
<!-- Feel free to change the text below this line. No profanity, please. -->

Thx in adv Trödel 13:36, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, this is certainly possible. I will take a look at adding this later today. Regards. joshbuddy 15:25, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
That's great - thx!!! Trödel 17:27, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for making the change - the speed of Tawkerbot's corrections is just incredible. When I tested it, by the time the page reloaded and I clicked history - the vandalism had been removed. My test 11:02, 7 April 2006, the correction 11:02, 7 April 2006. Trödel 11:08, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Bots

I'm pretty new to the whole[REDACTED] thing and I was just wondering how bots work, I mean is there like some java code on the bots page or something, appreciate any reply, thank you! Philc T+C 00:23, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply, I tried to understand, and I had a look at the links you left, but to be honest, it was all pretty mind boggling to me, and I couldnt make much sense of it... Partly because I dont understand the lingo associated with these topics. Is the pywikipedia like a template bot, and then you fill in the relevant bits and post it on a user page or something? Philc T+C 00:55, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
I was, sort of, hoping from a distance, having no prior knowledge of these things and all, but right now the immediate use I was going to put it to has disintegrated into debate about what is the right terminology. I could do with help if I ever get round to it. It would be a useful thing to have. Philc T+C 01:03, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Bible/bible

Why are you changing Bible to bible? The capitalized version is the most commonly understood and used spelling. Even in Misplaced Pages, Bible goes directly to the Judeo-Christian holy book. Why go against common widespread usage? - CobaltBlueTony 14:12, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Bot

Oh, I was just proposing a compromise - it's actually not a big deal to me at all. What's important to me is that all parties are happy: User:Mikkalai is one of WP's most respected contributors so it's worth not ticking him off (if you're making more work for him, then that's not a great situation) but User:Ganeshk (another well-received contributor) is right in saying that the talk page link has great value. If you are linking both, then that's great, and hopefully everybody will be happy. TheGrappler 17:54, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Naming of JW related Articles

About a week ago you asked for comments on renaming the Controversy article for JW's. I am sorry I did not respond then - it seems I overlooked it. You were wanting to rename the page to Controversial Issues of Jehovah's Witnesses to be consistent with the other articles. I was looking at the Proposed Structure and noticed that pretty much all of the articles are named "Jehovah's Witnesses and ...". I personally do not mind which way the issue goes. If the proposed structure is the guideline though, we should either rename the current articles to match it or (more likely) rename the links on the structure to match the current articles. Unless I hear otherwise I will rename the links on the structure accordingly. Lucy 00:17, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello Joshbuddy. I am an Admin of an independent wiki called Bionicle Sector 01 Wiki. As such we ask if you can build a bot for us. It shall be called Irnakk the Enforcer. You can contact me at utopia@biosector01.com for declining or accepting this. Hopefully you can help us make one. Mediawiki SOAP

Hi Joshbuddy, I have been told you were working on a possible SOAP API for mediawiki or, at least, presented it as a proposal. I would like to have a look at it, and ask you where did that discussion lead to. Do you feel like the developers are willing to give it a try? Type back, Nuno Tavares 21:46, 18 May 2006 (UTC).

Eeheh, thanks for your reply. In fact, I was hoping that something was done, already, even if just a single working draft, or a small start, to play with. I would be very nice for a thing like this (sorry, it's in portuguese). I was willing to serve as a tester and, at the same time, make JMWE prepared for the upcoming SOAP. You see, SOAP is a *must* for mediawiki to spawn on enterprise level, IMHO, and I read somewhere that many people were interested in such, many proposals, lots of discussion, but not enough people to work on it. I'm sorry but, for the moment, I can't be more than a simple tester - and, at the same time, a developer of what could be the first (hrm hrm, the second ;) application to use it. Anyway, if that's not asking too much, please keep me posted on further development. Best regards, and thanks again for your attention. Nuno Tavares 22:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

The website http://www.pastor-russell.com is listed under Watch Tower resources. I believe this classification is incorrect. Moreover, due to the highly protective nature of the Watch Tower legal department, I believe, in this section, that these two publications' online scanned versions may soon be pulled after legal action: Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose (1959) & Jehovah's Witnesses—Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (1993). I would recommend pulling them now, but I'll understand if others want to wait until the action is actually known. - CobaltBlueTony 19:56, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
