Margot Honecker nÊe Feist (born April 17, 1927 in Halle/Saale, Germany) is a German Communist politician who served as Minister for National Education in the German Democratic Republic from 1963 until 1989. She was married to Erich Honecker (1953-1994), the former leader of East Germany, and they had a daughter together named Sonja born in 1951. Margot Honecker has resided in Chile since 1993.
