Panchakarma is cleansing of body according to Ayurveda. It is claimed that Panchakarma is a therapeutic way of eliminating toxic elements from the body. These are set of five (panch =five in sanskrit)procedures. They are Vamana, Virechana, Nirooha, Nasya, and Anuvasana. Nirooha,Anuvasana and Uttaravasthi forms the basic types of Vasthi. The term Panchasodhana includes Vamana, Virechana, Sirovirechana, Nirooha, and Rakthamoksha.

Pre panchakarma procedures

Pre panchakarma procedures are called as poorvakarma. Snehana and swedana are poorvakarmas.
