Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Koala15 (talk) 20:31, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- I second this, the page just ended a year long page protection period, and the vandalism immediately returned. STATic message me! 20:34, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Neymar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: - Semi-protected yesterday, but only for 24 hours. Vandalism has immediately restarted. Page has a long history of vandalism, so it's time to shut it down for good - and Pending Changes is simply going to get absolutely overwhelmed. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 18:38, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

List of programs broadcast by Nickelodeon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Article is a target for juvenile hoaxters and sock operators such as WangsDaringsFun (aka Brightify, FanforClarl, HoshiNoKaabii), who has been in operation since at least 2012, and possibly longer. Article is vandalized on a regular basis by other IP users, etc. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:19, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
List of programs broadcast by Nicktoons (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Page is vandalized frequently, particularly lately. Disruptions appear to have been going on for quite some time. The nature of the article, children's television programming, attracts a lot of juvenile hoaxers, and is currently a target for Sock operator Brightify, aka WangsDaringsFun, FanforClarl, HoshiNoKaabii, etc. Recommending long-term protection, as this operator has been in business since at least 2012. Next Greek legislative election (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: There have been a series of IP edits over the last few months changing the political party Golden Dawn's political adjective from neo-nazi to something else (sometimes nationalist, sometimes ultranationalist, and maybe a few others.) Although the IP address changes, I feel fairly confident most of them are the same person.
There's really nothing to say here. They've only responded once, calling neo-nazi a "political propaganda term."
The Next Greek legislative election article isn't even the place to dispute something like this in the first place, it just reflects the party's article. The IP has been reverted by multiple people and directed to the Golden Dawn page several times. Since they've been doing it over the course of several months, I think its finally time to ask for semi-protection. --4idaho (talk) 13:27, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

- Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Please come back here and re-list for a longer period if it continues into 2014. Bearian (talk) 20:37, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Basque conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: The article basque conflict has been targeted by far-right media in Spain and is receiving a lot of vandalism. It should be semi-protected. -Theklan (talk) 20:32, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Bearian (talk) 20:40, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Talk:Neymar (edit | article | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: The article was just semi-protected (and I strongly suggest that this protection is extended.) Now the talk page is being vandalized by brand-new accounts and by IPs; BLP violations a-plenty. I know SP on these pages is a rare thing, but this is an extraordinary circumstance. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 15:16, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

- Semi-protected for a period of 2 hours, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Hopefully that will convince them to give it up. I'd rather get in early then have to search through the page history and figure out which accounts are good and which aren't. Hopefully this will convince them not to bother. Current requests for reduction in protection level
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Jacoby Ellsbury (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Reported transaction, unconfirmed, pending a physical examination. Too many IP edits that make even pending changes insufficient. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:54, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Bukharan Jews (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Unprotect Due to an edit-warring SPA IP that refused to engage on the Talk page or provide sources, this page was unduly placed under indefinite (instead of temporary) full protection.
I had been in the process of launching a complaint against the IP at AN/I after placing a tacit warning about edit warring on the IP's Talk page when protection was implemented. The IP has been warned by an uninvolved editor User_talk:24.12.209.241. The result of the AN/I was the following thread at RS/N. As can be seen from the RS/ thread, the edits by the IP amount to WP:OR, and do not meet the requirements of WP:V.--Ubikwit見学/迷惑 06:48, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Declined Please ask Casliber (talk · contribs), as I'm sure he had a reason for indef in the first place. Chances are it was always intended to be removed when the dispute's resolved, but you should ask him first. GedUK 13:07, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Done As I said on the talk page at Talk:Bukharan_Jews#full_protection_Comment, anyone is welcome to change my protection -I don't own it. I've just unprotected. Go for it folks. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:37, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Fulfilled/denied requests
A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Misplaced Pages:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
