Career

Singing career

From 1974 to 1983 Nolan sung as a member of The Nolan Sisters, where she notched eight top forty hits on the UK Singles Chart, a #1 on the Oricon Singles Chart, a nuber two on the Irish Singles Chart and a number three on the Australian Singles Chart (see The Nolans#Singles). Linda left in 1983 and quickly gained the label "Naughty Nolan" due to her posing in risqué publicity photos. The Nolans reunited as a five-piece (Anne, Bernie, Coleen, Linda and Maureen) for one-off performances of "I'm in the Mood for Dancing" first for BBC One's All Time Greatest Party Songs, hosted by Tess Daly, which aired on 17 December 2005 and again on 9 August 2007 on Loose Women.

Musicals

In addition, Nolan has also played the part of Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers and has played the role of Maggie May at Blackpool's Central Pier for 10 years, clocking up more than 1,000 performances and toured with Prisoner: Cell Block H – The Musical.

Celebrity Big Brother

Main article: Celebrity Big Brother 13

In January 2014, Nolan participated in the thirteenth series of Celebrity Big Brother. Prior to this, her sister Coleen had participated in and achieved second place in the tenth series. According to the Belfast Telegraph, she entered in an attempt to make a turn around, as she had encountered some hard times and had turned to the UK benefits system.

Nolan entered the house on Day 1 handcuffed to Jim Davidson who she had previously announced her disgust for. Upon learning that she was to be handcuffed, she confirmed her "Naughty Nolan" nickname by saying "I like a bit of bondage". However, on Day 15, Nolan erupted at Davidson after he made a remark "about Frank Carson's dressing room": In 1985, Hudson was fined £200 after being arrested, charged and pleading guilty to stealing £20 from Frank Carson's wallet. Nolan was nonetheless unimpressed and proceeded to brand Davidson a "cunt", "fucking arsehole" and a "snidey shit".

Personal life

From 1982 to 2007, Nolan was married to Brian Hudson, who later died from cancer. She currently lives with her stepchildren Lloyd and Sarah.

Health

In 2006, Nolan was diagnosed with a four-inch tumour and 11 cancerous lymph nodes in her breast and had to undergo a partial mastectomy and intensive chemotherapy. As part of her treatment, Linda had a breast removed. The following year, she was diagnosed with a serious skin infection in her arm.
