It is general accepted that handloaded cartridges can be more accurate than mass produced ones and can be considered to be cheaper to shoot. The cartridge, seecartridge is described elsewhere. The handloading process depends on consistency. Each cartridge completed should be exactly like the previous ones produced. Most handloaders customize their cartridges to their specific gun. Many items are considered critical, such a powder (type, quantity), manufacturer of brass, and primers, bullets (manufacturer, type, weight, use) and of course the equipment used to put the cartridge together.It is typically agreed that rimfire cartridges (e.g. .22 long rifle)are not handloaded.
