Jason Minter is a filmmaker, activist and also owns the Upper Manhattan’s Indian Road Café; a restaurant that drew press attention for public significance as a diner in Upper Manhattan and for connection with Jason Minter.
Career
Prior to life as a film producer on the Emmy Award-winning show, he worked as the show’s assistant location manager as well as assistant to the show’s creator David Chase. Minter also appeared in D-Girl, an episode with James Ganfolfini and Edie Falco.
In winter of 2014, when the killers were scheduled to face the parole board, Mr. Minter circulated an online petition that received thousands of signatures. The Parole Board denied the killers their freedom. The criminals will again be up for parole in 2016.
His story and career has been covered in articles by The New York Post, New York Times, USA Today, Daily Mail, among others.
Personal life and Indian Road Cafe
Jason's tribute to his mother, Bonnie Minter, the Indian Road Café mimics Vesuvio; Minter’s work as a producer on the long-running HBO show The Sopranos, a decor found all around this Café.
The cafe was opened in 2008 in remembrance of Jason Minter’s mother, Bonnie, who was murdered in 1977 while he was 7. This story was also the subject of 2007 episode of This American Life on National Public Radio.
The convicted murders are in prison from 25 years to life. Jason Minter is an active critic of the system that subjects the victims' families to the bi-annual ordeal of reviewing the detail of violence of the crimes against them each time the criminals are up for parole.
He lives in Manhattan with his wife and daughter.
