Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Former colonies and territories in Canada, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Assiniboine (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Template:Sports browsebar
I would have thought from name and the content that its reasonably obvious that this template is about individual sports, not about Sports in country x. Moondyne (talk) 01:33, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- What do you mean "Olympics" is not an individual sports. Its a sport template not our fault that there is not other country sport portal. Will be reverting bold edit -- Moxy (talk) 02:46, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Native American populations
This editor concerns me - I've seen him make a lot of poorly sourced or unsourced population changes. He reverted you and I've again removed the chart he added using among other sources a travel company and an 1895 gazetteer. Have you seen his other edits? Dougweller (talk) 05:07, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Moxy....
I don't think you're among those who despise and resent me, saw DougWeller's comments about native pops and have noted that editor myself.....some like the Kaska and Tahltan figures may be correct but they're uncited; they sound right anyways.
To keep it short as I've said my piece elsewhere, please take the time to read this and this and, if you've got the stomach for it, the "tonight's response" in this on my talkpage and this on the ethnicities and tribes naming convention talkpage and my other posts there. You were among those who regretted my absence from Misplaced Pages, and welcomed my return. I've been trying to correct the reckless overturning of titles that took place in my absence, and have received endless shit for it; it seems there are those who want to drive me from Misplaced Pages again, as I am in there way. 'Nuff said; the latter two links are something of a manifesto of what I believe has gone off the rails in Misplaced Pages, I'll leave it at that. Canadian input at the remaining unclosed town-RMs and some of the remaining indigenous people RMs is sorely needed. This isn't polling as that is about "looking for biased" votes/input - though there are certain of my opponents who claim that my application of NCET and CANSTYLE is "POV" - as if their own positions and actions weren't.Skookum1 (talk) 06:43, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Reflist parameters?
Hi, Moxy, I've appreciated your constructive edits over the years on a variety of articles. I see that you edited an article I have watchlisted today to change a reflist template parameter from specifying 2 columns to specifying columns 30em wide. Just on the face of that, that seems like better responsive website design, as some users may zoom in on their text more than others, but I wonder if you have any other comments about usability of different formatting settings on Misplaced Pages. The software of Misplaced Pages has changed a bit over the years, and the browsers people use to read Misplaced Pages have changed too, and I wonder what trade-offs I should be considering as I update various articles. For sure, I expect to be adding references to most articles I work on, so I want to understand how the reflist template works to format reference lists. (I will have to remember to experiment in user sandboxes as I update article drafts.) What Misplaced Pages documentation or other sources do you recommend to make sure that I understand these issues well and use current best practice? Keep up the good work. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 22:06, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I found the documentation and have been experimenting. Thanks for the fix that drew this issue to my attention. Happy editing. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 19:54, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Help to create a consensus around University Canada West Misplaced Pages
Hey Moxy,
Please, can you review the University Canada West Talk page. I need to form a consensus because as of now it's me and another editor; this is not a consensus. Please, take a few minutes to see my referenced contributions and content on the University Canada West Talk page. I would appreciate if you could weigh in.

Your comments regarding GANs
"I think we have a bigger problem ..that is a GA reviewer that lacks knowledge of what a GA article is. He says hes done many!!" - that's not very nice is it? If you have a problem with my GAN reviewing, why don't you talk to me about it instead of people who this has nothing to do with? The Miley Cyrus article met the GA criteria at the end, at first it didn't because I put it on hold until all of my concerns had been attended to. I do this to all of my GA reviews, all but two have either passed up front or failed up front. The Tephrosia apollinea GAN was my own mistake, I'm no expert in plants so I didn't know content was an issue. I've explained all of this before. ☠ Jaguar ☠ 18:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- I did we had this conversation - As I said I will look into this a bit more...as I have. There are concerns raised by a few editors over a few articles. My concern here is GA reviews passed without knowledge of what is expected from a GA article. -- Moxy (talk) 23:12, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

For helping me sort through the ANI policies regarding interspersed comments. I'm feeling like I'm getting trolled a lot and it's hard to tell sometimes who's helping me and who's baiting me. I meant to thank you for your comment but don't know how to do it, so this message is here instead! Neuraxis (talk) 20:43, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Neuraxis, when you assume bad faith, you see helpful comments and edits as baiting. That POV only gets you into trouble. That's why we have a policy which REQUIRES that you AGF. If you will try to be collaborative and cooperative, you'll save yourself lots of trouble. You should have left a comment like above on my talk page too, but of course you didn't. Instead I get this totally warlike declaration from you. If I obey such an unreasonable demand, then you force me to expose your uncollaborative spirit by replying to you on other pages! Really? Is that what you want?
- BTW, you do not own your talk page. There are limits to how much you can control it, and you can lose access to it if you prevent it from being used for its intended purpose, which includes communicating with you, advising you, and warning you. I have never baited or trolled you, so you can drop those accusations. -- Brangifer (talk) 21:13, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I never mentioned anybody, BR. You are making more attempts to smear my character, yet again (your uncooperative spirit, war-like....) There is a lot context that you're omitting, which is beyond this page. I am trying to steer clear of you. Please respect my wishes. Please do not poison the well. I do not want anything to do with you whatsoever. Stop following me around, I'm feeling hounded. This is my final warning. I do not wish this to escalate as I have warned you before . You have been blocked from mine . Please stop following me around, I am feeling stalked. I wanted to thank Moxy for the help instead you're trying to change the whole narrative. - I don't know what to do anymore. I just wanted to thank you and it's all gone to shit. Neuraxis (talk) 21:44, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I do have a question, actually. There are a few editors making allegations against me having an agenda, trying to game the system, etc. These aren't supported by diffs so I feel these allegations aren't showing good faith. When I respond to these allegations they are spinning things around saying I'm not having good faith. I honestly feel some editors are misrepresenting me but no matter how many times I ask them to stop, they continue. I even asked them to read my bio page, and still allegations of having a hidden agenda. I'm not used to all these attacks and I want to respond but I'm getting wikilawyered to death. A user left this on my page and it seems this is being followed to a T. Any advice? Neuraxis (talk) 00:51, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Neuraxis - Replying without looking into the bigger picture. You will find that there are many editors that are very good at diverting attention from the problems at hand (for example: Not replying to direct question while at the some time bring up procedural problems or as you put it gaming the system.) I have a few editors that I dont get along with aswell. I go out of my way to avoid them when possible and if I do interact with them I make sure its in a public forum (as in article tlak pages and noticeboards) this is so that others can always see whats going on. However if many editors have the same concerns about your edits I would suggest that you look at what is being said....or ask the appropriate Wikiproject talk page for others to get involved on article talk pages over user tlak pages (again so all can see). You could join the Misplaced Pages-en-help IRC chat room... Click here to be connected instantly with people that can look at the problem and advise you on what to do. Will reply more in a bit when I look at your situation. -- Moxy (talk) 01:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Bering Sea Arbitration
Yo Moxy; I'm largely avoiding Misplaced Pages now, tired of being made a whipping-boy by the rulemongers and powertrippers; but noting your participation in recent edits at Bering Sea Arbitration, just wanting to tip you off as to how much is still missing from that article; like the Alaska boundary dispute and Oregon boundary dispute ones, which I've de-POVized/globalized some long ago, it's heavy on the USPOV and totally written from their perspective. If you read through the Scholefield & Howay citation I got the Corwin information from you'll see by how much the article is lacking any "BPOV" (British POV) or "BCPOV"; the key point of which is it was British Columbian sealing vessels that pioneered the industry in the first place; this is largely lost to Canadian history, but the Bering Sea Crisis nearly brought the US and UK to global war in the 1880s; only the Great Eastern Crisis kept Britain busy; that USian who tried to pretend the US had won the "conflict" needs keeping an eye on; and note that this is an article, like the Hay-Herbert Treaty (Alaska Boundary Tribunal's outcome, also an arbitration), about a diplomatic agreement, not about a conflict. As with Nootka Crisis vs Nootka Conventions, there maybe needs to be two articles.
Another kinda rank USPOV thing is in operation at New Albion; see my recent additions/replies on the talkpage there, which of course have been ignored as inconvenient, and the removal of the BC theory from the lede as supposedly "fringe". Even the title of that article is USian, and is only what it is because of the dismissal of the other theories by the people OWNing that article; I've been thinking about taking it to the fringe theories bb board but as you might gather I intensely dislike the know-nothing-but-want-to-have-my-say-to-fuck-this-up atmosphere/environment on discussion boards; the title should be Nova Albion, which was Drake's name, not that of the US Parks Service. Whatever; it's one of many articles where USPOV or sometimes UKPOV has bulldozed aside all dissenting opinion (and things like t he power stations category's imposition of British English worldwide...).
Misplaced Pages has eaten too much of my life; there's important material yet in need of doing, but writing thigns in "collaboration" with people who don't like reading and want to cite guidelines they don't even fully read is increasingly a waste of time, and the things that get said to me endlessly patronizing and insulting. Am I done? Maybe, certainly for major contributions, if I'm going to write it's not going to be hobbled b y people who vilify me for their own short attention spans/impatience and abysmal lack of knowledge of the topics they insist on kibbitzing over.Skookum1 (talk) 01:57, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Another strange USian based item is Anti-Oriental Riots (Vancouver), which I found as Vancouver Race Riots and until I added the Canadian cites and rewrote it a bit, was in "American language" and had only US accounts; Anti-Oriental Riots redirects at the moment to Asiatic Exclusion League, which isn't quite right either; sad that such an important item in BC/Canadian history went unwritten to the point where American essays as cites and American editors wrote it first; but it still has content/language problems and some details are wrong (the Japanese did hold their own); and the various Oregon and Alaska and the San Juan articles all similarly were started as USPOV and are not yet properly globalized; too much bullshit elsewhere has kept me from getting back to them....Skookum1 (talk) 05:39, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Sorry
Dear Moxy: It appears that I somehow reverted your edit at the European history project. I'm pretty sure that I've never even been on that page, so the only thing I can think of is that I must have activated a rollback from my Watchlist. Apparently it's instant and doesn't ask for a confirmation! I've never intentionally used that feature, so if that's what happened I am surprised that the edit summary just said "revert" and not "rollback". In any case, I can't imagine wanting to revert edits to a page without seeing both the old and new versions, so I've found a way to remove "rollback" links from my watchlist to prevent a recurrence. I am pretty much a klutz and can't always be sure of not accidentally clicking on things. I apologize for the inconvenience. —Anne Delong (talk) 04:02, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- No problem I did think is was odd and most likely a mistake. Thank you for taking the time to explain - most would just move on ...great to see an editor with real world manners. :-)

The large body of work in this case is removing all the links to the toolbox. I've seen how many you've had to already, and I know I would have quit after only a small fraction of that number. John Carter (talk) 18:03, 3 July 2014 (UTC) |

Hey Moxy. I was looking at the latest content and I was wondering what was meant by "Copyrighted materials cannot be uploaded to either location." If I understood what was intended I would just be bold, but I'm not sure.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:26, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Fuhghettaboutit - To be honest I am not all that good when it comes to copyright stuff. It is just regurgitating what the parent articles says. Perhaps best to reword..as the page should be clear - and its clear its not clear now LOL. -- Moxy (talk) 23:30, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- On a side note please see Misplaced Pages:Village pump (proposals)#Add "Contributing to Misplaced Pages" to main left hand side info links. Not sure if this is the right place or not? --
- Okay , I see where it comes from. That page needs a rewrite, and I now see what was intended (and it's incorrect). It was written by someone who does not understand that the Commons is chock full of copyrighted material, but which is under a free copyright license. Material under a free copyright license is still copyrighted, it just bears a non-restrictive license. I'll fix that section soon. Cheers--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:39, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

- On a side note please see Misplaced Pages:Village pump (proposals)#Add "Contributing to Misplaced Pages" to main left hand side info links. Not sure if this is the right place or not? --
- @Fuhghettaboutit - To be honest I am not all that good when it comes to copyright stuff. It is just regurgitating what the parent articles says. Perhaps best to reword..as the page should be clear - and its clear its not clear now LOL. -- Moxy (talk) 23:30, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Air Serbia – issue
Hi Moxy, I was recently caught in the discussion about Air Serbia - Jat Airways relations. Please, if you are willing so, read my whole expose about this issue here: , and give your opinion on it, so we can move forward from this stalemate. Thanks! --AirWolf 15:15, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

war of 1812
check out who won 2014 section on talk page it was stated that results section should represent views of more historians espeecly from British Canadian side and also give the outcomes to two main reasons which war was fought over brit sea polices and Canada. Therefore removing these edits without discussion after this is a bit unfair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperialredcoat (talk • contribs) 20:37, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Ushers of the Black Rod in the Canadian provinces
I wonder if there are more Black Rods in the Canadian provinces besides Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Komitsuki (talk) 15:49, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Ottawa
Sourcing still needs work, obviously, but any thoughts on additional content that needs to be added? Do you see any obvious gaps? Nikkimaria (talk) 19:43, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
I will look for sources...the "Economy" section needs some new numbers from after the market crash and recovery in the area. Should mention that Ottawa was not hit hard at all during the latest depression. Yes 9000 federal works lost...but overall the city did very well during the late 2000s. -- Moxy (talk) 15:32, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Latest SPI for UrbanNerd
Hi Moxy, hope you are keeping well. We haven't crossed paths much recently until today at Ottawa. In case you haven't noticed from your watchlist yet, our blocked buddy UrbanNerd has re-emerged with more suspected IP socks. I've opened an SPI at Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/UrbanNerd. All suspected IP socks have been active at Ottawa for the past couple of weeks. Please keep an eye out, and any additional evidence you may uncover would be appreciated at the SPI. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 22:48, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Please explain this to me
You recently sent me this message (00:50, 9 November 2014).
- Could you tell me why you reversed or otherwise changed four good faith edits of mine in the space of 28 minutes? You have already reversed two good faith edits recently. You reversed two today. That brings it to a total of eight good faith edits in the last week. The edits I'm talking about are the following. Isn't this against the rules?
- What did "Will be reverting this in a few places" mean? How did you find these particular edits? Are you hunting them down?
- Why didn't you discuss on a talk page first with any of these eight edits? For numerous good faith edit reversals it would be the best thing.
- What have you got against hatnotes? Why must you bury all hatnote type links in the text, where nobody will see them?
- I've noticed that you have also edited all these pages in the past. Is that relevant at all? Would you prefer it if I didn't edit pages you've already edited?
00:25 9 November 2014 (Add link to a more appropriate spot)
Earlier in the week:
18:28, 3 November 2014 (fix coding so it does not cause all to have to side scroll)
Today:
15:29, 9 November 2014 (more to more appropriate)
--Mrjulesd (talk) 17:19, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
- You seems upset and the long edit summaries or my explanation on your talk page seem not enough so I will explain more.
- "Could you tell me why you reversed or otherwise changed four good faith edits of mine in the space of 28 minutes? You have already reversed two good faith edits recently. You reversed two today. That brings it to a total of eight good faith edits in the last week. The edits I'm talking about are the following. Isn't this against the rules?"
- I reverted a series of same type edits. Those were see also links (not hatnotes) added to the top of pages that simply lead new editors on a wild goose chance to pages that regurgitate the same info. Related pages should be placed at the bottom.. Not the first link people see that just brings them to a page with the same info (or just links in this case)....its called a run around.
- "What did "Will be reverting this in a few places" mean? How did you find these particular edits? Are you hunting them down?
- As explained above and by my actions I reverted same type edits to multiple pages. This pages are all on my watch list because I am the one that made them all have a similar format as per our guidelines.
- "Why didn't you discuss on a talk page first with any of these eight edits? For numerous good faith edit reversals it would be the best thing."
- I did what is the norm ...I reverted with long edit summaries ...then post a note to you personally about the problem.....even saying how \i like what you did on a certain page. I have written about what is best to do when you get reverted at Misplaced Pages:Contributing to Misplaced Pages#Discussion and consensus
- "What have you got against hatnotes? Why must you bury all hatnote type links in the text, where nobody will see them?"
- Hatnotes help readers locate a different article they might be seeking. Not a see also link to pages that have the same info (or a run around link per say). Best we dont lead editors to yet another page right of the bat before they have even look at the current page that has the same info.
- "I've noticed that you have also edited all these pages in the past. Is that relevant at all? Would you prefer it if I didn't edit pages you've already edited?"
- Yes I happen to be the guy that writes and organizes many of the help pages. I follow the guide lines at Misplaced Pages:Help Project/Guidelines and Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Usability and is why some (only 2) of the edits you did to the help template were change.....simply over whelming for new editors looking for help. Templates dont need to have it all....as the search box is linked already on every page and the top header should be simple. I have no problem with anyone editing pages I have edited or created...keep editing just remember not all will agree with your edits all the time. -- Moxy (talk) 17:51, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
1. Well I feel your reversing of a large number of edits, in a short space of time, could easily be seen as imflammatory. If they were bad faith edits it would be different; but with good faith edits this, and without discussion, it shouldn't be done. It is likely to be upsetting to the person on the receiving end, and also suggests a hidden agenda, and is against the rules. Would you like it done to you?
2. Well "Will be reverting this in a few places" to me suggests you are actively looking through my edits for what you can revert. And that seems to be exactly what you did. And to my understanding of the rules is this is not allowed.
3. But with eight edits? In such a sort space of time? Most of you reasons seem to be “this doesn't agree with my particular opinion”. Again, it is likely to be seen as inflammatory, and against the rules.
4. It says in the guidelines “Hatnotes help readers locate a different article they might be seeking.”Now with pages like Help:Getting started and Misplaced Pages:Instructional material this is very likely to be the place. By removing them you're making it more difficult for people to find material.
5. “Would you prefer it if I didn't edit pages you've already edited? - Yes I happen to be the guy that writes and organizes many of the help pages.” Well, that was the reason I suspected for your flurry of reversals: I was editing in an area you regarded as “your turf”, the Help pages, and you wanted to teach me a lesson. But as well as being against the spirit of Misplaced Pages, it is also against two policies: WP:OWN and WP:WIKIHOUNDING.
Comment: Well I would like you to reverse all the changes you've made to my edits. And if you decide not to do this, I may well go take this further. It is clear in my mind that you've broken policy, and you've more or less admitted this. I don't see why I should stop editing Help pages merely because you feel it to be your turf; I've done a good job, even you've said “I like what you did at Help:Getting started ...”. Also, I don't see why you should treat any editor this way at all.
--Mrjulesd (talk) 00:06, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
- Wow an ultimatum and what I see as a total misunderstanding of the situation at hand what was said and policy. I will not be reverting the changes I have made as you have not really address or convinced me in anyway the concerns raised by the edits have been address (was more then willing to talk about them before but this is fading because of attitude). You are free to do what you think is best in regards to getting others involved as I am not sure I can deal with someone threatening me to take action...see Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution for more information. All I suggest is that you follow the community norm of Misplaced Pages:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle and gain consensus for the portion of your edits that have been disputed as at this point there is now no consensus for them/ You need to build this consensus now. Never had someone I complemented be so upset....always something new to see here. -- Moxy (talk) 00:25, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
- Very well. But to me it is a clear case of WP:WIKIHOUNDING brought on by WP:OWN and therefore breaks two policies. "... as you have not really address or convinced me in anyway the concerns raised by the edits have been address (was more then willing to talk about them before but this is fading because of attitude)": why on earth didn't you do this before all the revertions in the first place? --Mrjulesd (talk) 00:56, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
- WTF more can I do I wrote long edit summaries and posted to your wall what I did with an explanations and a link long before you said anything. The fact I told you above "I have no problem with anyone editing pages I have edited or created..." and your still claiming wp:own and wp:hounding makes me worried. I cant believe anyone would expect an editor to have to ask them to edit before they revert. Pls read over Misplaced Pages:Editing policy#Talking and editing... I did both recommendations ...reverted you with explanations on a series of related edits and then informed you of them on your talk page with a link. In return you threaten me to take action or you will "take this further" instead of talking about it further and claiming wp:own and wp:hound despite what I have told you. Are you sure your on the right path to resolution and compromise here - will you been seen in a good light by others? -- Moxy (talk) 02:35, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
