This is a list of Wikipedians who, for various reasons, are unfortunately no longer an integral part of our community.
Purpose of this list
The purpose of this list is to provide a reminder to us of those who have left and their reasons for doing so.
Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Most of the people in the list made well over 1,000 edits. Do not add people unless you are certain they have left, and do not add yourself.
- People who leave a goodbye message on their talk page or elsewhere, and then actually refrain from editing for at least two weeks, are likely to have left permanently and may be added to the list.
- Wait about a month before listing someone who has simply ceased editing, unless you have some other reason for being certain that they have left.
- Wikipedians who are considering leaving and those who have very recently left a stress-related goodbye message can be listed at Esperanza's alert page.
- In most cases, editors who have gradually adopted a pattern of occasional editing interspersed with long breaks should not be listed merely because they are on one of their long breaks.
- Editors who return are no longer "missing" and can be removed from the list altogether or listed in the "Not really missing" section.
- Missing Wikipedians should be added to this list by people who knew them well rather than by strangers.
- If you add your own user name to the list as one of your final edits, your addition might be reverted since it is theoretically impossible for a "missing" Wikipedian to make an edit. You are welcome to add your own name to Esperanza's alert page, but be warned that the Esperanza community will accordingly try to encourage you to stay.

- 12.144.5.2 (talk · contribs · count) - Louis Epstein, who posted from a fixed IP, left a valedictory address on his user page 2006 January 1.
- 168... (talk · contribs · count) - Blanked user page and was presumed to have left on 2004 March 7 following disputes arising from the handling of "subvandalism" (see e.g. DNA).
- ( (talk · contribs · count) - With one of the shortest names for a Wikipedian, this user had 2,810 edits before vanishing on February 5, 2004.

- Abigail-II (talk · contribs · count) - Left 2004 June 12. Blanked talk page and left message on Village Pump, explaining that too many people were deleting material without discussion on talk pages. "I've no interest in working on a system where people break down your work without discussing it on appropriate page."
- AI (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 2005 October 15. Left following an Arbitration Committee case which banned him from Misplaced Pages.
- Alex 101 (talk · contribs · count) - 2391 edits, last edit on 3 March 2006, no reason given, but left after a series of lengthening blocks for edit warring.
- Almafeta (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit on February 23, 2006 (March 5, 2006 on the Interlingua Misplaced Pages). Stopped editing "due to the political goals of the Wikimedia Foundation", which Almafeta considered to be opposing h** religion and political belief.
- Alren (talk · contribs · count) - One edit on March 24, 2006, but hadn't edited since January 6 before that.

- Curps (talk · contribs · count) - a most active administrator, has not edited since June 8, 2006, he made a few bot edits until June 25; no further explanation. He will be sorely missed.
- Cryptic (talk · contribs · count) - Deleted his user page and blocked himself indefinitely on May 30, 2006, later unblocked himself and made a handful of edits to his talk page in early July.

- Danakil (talk · contribs · count) - This extraordinary user edited for only one and a half months, from 1 August to 13 September, 2004, yet during that time he amassed 3,009 edits. Many of these were controversial, although he was responsible for the systematic and correct categorization of hundreds of programming languages and other software related articles.
- David Justin (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit April 26, 2006. Possibly the most prolific contributor on the topic of drinking. A god (specifically, Bacchus) among men.
- David91 (talk · contribs · count) - last edit 12 April 2006. See Possibly deceased Wikipedians.
- Dawud (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 28 January 2006 (i.e. this very post, a self-sign-off.) "My experience has convinced me that the Misplaced Pages will never be a quality source of information on many of the religious subjects which I edited. Put bluntly, why should I devote time and energy on improving an article, when I know my contributions will probably be overwritten by the ignorant and opinionated? (No doubt others make the same complaint about me--and lacking any serious mechanism for scholarly review and critique, we can never really establish which of us is justified.) Misplaced Pages's central conceit--that an informed consensus will emerge--just doesn't hold up in practice. For example, take a look at Jesus, and then tell me that this article will ever be anything other than pure crap. Granted, there are many good religion articles out there too, but the bottom line is that Misplaced Pages is not reliable, and cannot be made so."

- Fonzy (talk · contribs · count) - Retired May 2004: "I don't like change much (which some will probably know or guess why). I prefered Misplaced Pages more when it was smaller and I felt part of a small community, now Misplaced Pages has got bigger (which is great) but I dont feel as useful, or as important, I just feel like part of a mob." Made last edit on the 26th of that month.
- Francs2000 (talk · contribs · count) - Left on July 15, 2006, after a lot of stressful things were happening in his life, both on Misplaced Pages and off.
- Func (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 10 October 2005. "My apologies, I am away from Misplaced Pages for an extended period of time." Made two edits on April 11, 2006.

He started 115 new articles and contributed more than 19 photos he took using his digital camera. He decided to leave because he felt fed up with some particular Wikipedians. - RickK (talk · contribs · count) - One of the most active administrators on recent changes patrol, blanked his talk page and left a rather bitter goodbye message on his user page. His exit came after a revert war where he was removing a copyright violation, in which he was blocked for violating the three revert rule by a fellow administrator. (see here)
- He appeared on Simple Misplaced Pages on July 21, 2005.

- Wikiacc (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit July 7, 2006. Left a message on his userpage stating "This user has permanently left Misplaced Pages." Deleted his userpage on July 23, 2006, but recreated it on the 24th to change 'permanently' to 'indefinitely', possibly suggesting a return in the future.

Not really missing
- Hephaestos (talk · contribs · count) - has been on break from Misplaced Pages since December 2004. He made some edits between January and April 2005. He then announced that he was going to leave Misplaced Pages and came back in May to protect his user page. Between January and April 2006, he made more edits, added a vandalism count on his user page and protected his talk page. He came back on May 6, 2006 to update his talk page and has not edited since.
- Endomion (talk · contribs · count) - Very active AfD contributor, vanished after February 25, 2006. Made a couple edits on May 8, and has edited very sporadically since then. Possibly less active due to harrassment.
- Actually it was a case of Wiki burnout, after attaining 5000 edits. --Ruby 05:18, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- ManuelGR (talk · contribs · count) - last edit 1 November 2005 - does not usually edit on the English Misplaced Pages, his usual work is the Spanish Misplaced Pages.
- NSLE (talk · contribs · count) - last edit on July 3rd, 2006. Left after a well-publicized desysopping and involvement in discussion over an incident where an editor appeared to have died. See contributions for details.
- He changed another account User:Chacor, and he confirmed his identity on that user page on August 11.
