Repost: U.S. state inventory

Time to see which states have a cannabis article and which don't:

I think enough info exists about cannabis culture, history and legislation for each state that articles are warranted. ----Another Believer (Talk) 18:39, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Reposting this, just made a new article Cannabis in Maine. Note also that while some states might not have a dedicated page, they may have a category at Category:Cannabis in the United States by state which collects articles around the topic. Also I added another column to the above list to cover non-states. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 16:23, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Just for kicks I went and knocked out Cannabis in American Samoa; apparently one of the harshest places in the US, with a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence for any amount of marijuana, even if prescribed elsewhere. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 00:43, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
Added Cannabis on American Indian reservations last night and Cannabis in Vermont today. Any preference on which states really should have a state-level article but don't? Again note that some states that lack a specific page already do have a Category with several pages. I'm also open to suggestions as to what countries should have a "Cannabis in X" page and don't. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 12:03, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Saw in the news that Wyoming is working on a 2016 ballot initiative for MMJ, so created Cannabis in Wyoming. Can someone also knock out a "Cannabis in the US" template that has the states on it, and we can put that at the bottom of the state articles? Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 08:12, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Added Cannabis in South Dakota, since they had failed ballot initiatives for medical in 2006 and 2010, and are attempting both MMJ and decrim in 2016, plus the Flandreau Sioux tribe, located within SD, is fully legalizing on their reservation. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 20:53, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
We may need to modify Template:Cannabis in the United States. Technically, navboxes should only include entries for actual Misplaced Pages arcticles, so this navbox is not being used correctly. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:32, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Added Cannabis in Montana; like you said, every state pretty much has a story to tell, from how they first banned cannabis, to any later legislation, and in a lot of cases some commentary on cannabis culture and economy. Montana sounded like there wouldn't be enough to even write about, but I found some really interesting stuff. Suggestion: on the articles like Legality of cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction, at some point can we start linking the names of states to their cannabis article, rather than just their state general article, so that people who want to read more about that state's cannabis situation can do so? And there are probably other articles like that, where they had no links to state-level cannabis articles since those largely didn't exist until our recent drive. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 10:25, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Added Cannabis in Nebraska, surprisingly one of the earliest states to decriminalize, and one that has more interesting Botany info than usual due to having lots of feral "ditch weed" hemp. I also just did Cannabis in Georgia (U.S. state), and I notice that we don't have any article on CBD oil (we have hash oil, but that's different). Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 15:15, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

In my ongoing tour of our nation's... "less exotic" states, I knocked out Wisconsin, where they just legalized CBD oil last year. I genuinely think we can have something worth saying on basically every state here, so that's my ambition. But I could definitely use some help, particularly since we must have a few people interested in doing at least short articles for the states where there's high-profile stuff going on life in Ohio, Florida, etc. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 11:06, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
Another "sounds boring but actually interesting": Cannabis in Utah. Apparently there's controversy as to whether their 1915 prohibition (one of the first in the country) is based on Mormon doctrine, or just a copy-paste of a larger piece of California's 1913 drug law. Also added Cannabis in Tennessee, Cannabis in Alabama, Cannabis in Arkansas, Cannabis in Louisiana, and Cannabis in Idaho. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 12:42, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
I've now covered all the states/territories in the "Illegal" field, except for Pennsylvania. Anyone have a strong desire to cover that state? Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 11:51, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Added Cannabis in Puerto Rico (been away for a bit, life busy), so now we're only missing one US Territory with Cannabis in United States Virgin Islands, and I'll aim to knock that out soon. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 15:17, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
And now with Cannabis in United States Virgin Islands, that should cover us for all the populated US non-State jurisdictions, right? The Minor Outlying Islands have almost no people whatsoever and no permanent settlement, so unless someone has some pretty clever ways of finding a little cannabis law or history on those areas, I think we're now down to just knocking out the rest of the 50 states. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 10:55, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
Added Cannabis in Oklahoma, so now just short South Carolina and Pennsylvania to have completed all the Banned States and all the CBD Only states. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 16:46, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

I just made a sidebar check it out and edit. Template:Cannabis sidebar Mangokeylime (talk) 19:04, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Looks good! There is a discussion at WT:WikiProject Medicine about what articles to use this in. Sizeofint (talk) 21:05, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
The conversation was deleted, but someone was taking if off major articles, saying it should be a navbar.
It is in the archive if anyone wants to read. I believe discussion was pending some decision regarding navboxes. Sizeofint (talk) 06:28, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

Maintenance work

To let everyone know, I will be making a change to the {{Load WikiProject Modules}} Lua module, used on this project to render the different sections. This change involves, among other things, moving the different section headers out of the subpages and onto the main WikiProject page. This change will make the WikiProject easier to use and maintain. During this change, there may be a brief time window where the WikiProject page looks broken. Once the changes are finished, everything should be restored to normal. If not, purge your cache and it will work. If there are any bugs, please let me know promptly on my talk page. Thank you, Harej (talk) 01:27, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

This work is now done. Please let me know if there are any bugs. Harej (talk) 02:31, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Cannabis shop vs. dispensary

Same thing? Please see here to help figure out the commons categories. Thank you!!!! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:58, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

I would say they are the same thing. In Oregon, where cannabis is now legal, "dispensaries" were available to medical marijuana cardholders only. Now that anyone (of age) can purchase and consume cannabis, the word "dispensary" is used less frequently. I wonder if something like "Cannabis shops" or "Cannabis retail outlets" is appropriate? ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:23, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Cannabis dispensary

Please see Draft:Cannabis dispensary. It was an article yesterday and is now back in draft space.

So, please review and comment at Draft talk:Cannabis dispensary. We need to know if it is fit for the mainspace.

Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:17, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
