Template:Chinese name Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor Template:Contains Chinese text Huang Zitao (Chinese: 黄子韬; pinyin: Huáng Zitao), most commonly known as Tao (born May 2, 1993), is a Chinese rapper, singer, martial artist and actor. He was active for three years as lead rapper for EXO-M, the Chinese-based unit of the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO. In the summer of 2015, Huang, under the newly adapted stage name "Z.Tao", made his solo debut with his digital mini-album T.A.O with 3 tracks.

Early life & pre-debut

Huang Zitao was born in Qingdao, Shandong,China. Tao learned Wushu martial art when he was young. and was a sports student during his school years In late 2010, he reluctantly accompanied a friend to "MBC Star Audition" which was hosting a global talent search and was scouted immediately by a representative from SM Entertainment. His brief trainee period spanned for a little less than year and on December 27, 2011 he was formally introduced as the third member of EXO. Huang made his television debut at the SBS Gayo Daejeon event on December 29, 2011.

Career

2012 - 2015: EXO

In 2013 during the months of August and September, Tao took part in filming for MBC's celebrity diving program Splash!. After a run of four episodes, the show was cancelled due to a number of celebrities who were reportedly injured. The episodes aired from August 23, 2013 to September 13, 2013.

In June 2014, Tao appeared in Zhang Liyin's music videos for her singles Agape and it's sequel Not Alone, alongside former label mate Victoria of f(x). The music videos were released on August 5, 2014. and September 22, 2014 respectively.

In Oct 2014, Tao was featured in the Chinese version music video of Rewind for Zhou Mi's album of the same name where he also featured in the song Love Tonight. For both songs Tao also writes the rap lyrics. The music video was released on October 30, 2014.

In July 2014, Tao joined the Solomon Islands edition of SBS' Laws of the Jungle. He got injured in the foot during filming. The episodes aired from September 12, 2014 to November 21, 2014.

On August 24, Tao filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to terminate his contract, due to the aggravation of the ankle injury sustained at the Idol Star Athletics Championships.

2015 - Solo

In January 2015, Tao had his first acting role a cameo in the Chinese movie You are my Sunshine starring Huang Xiaoming and Yang Mi, which was released on April 30, 2015.

In June 2015, Tao set up an official Chinese agency, 黄子韬Z.TAO Studio.

On June 3rd 2015, Huang Zitao was introduced as the model and spokesperson for the mobile game Almighty Team, at their press conference. and On July 1st 2015, Tao was revealed as a spokesperson of Bugles China, he features regularly in their ad campaigns and on their snack packaging.

On 23 July 2015, Z.Tao made his solo debut with a digital mini-album T.A.O. and another self-titled album, Z.TAO, came out shortly after on August 19, 2015 and On August 23, Z.Tao held his first solo concert at the Beijing Exhibition Center Theater. He performed 8 tracks including the songs from his first mini album.

On September 19, 2015, Z.Tao attended the London Fashion Week after being invited by Versus Versace. Before the show, Tao had taken part in the official Versus Versace SS16 collection's street style photo-shoot.

On October 20 2015, Anhui TV announced that Tao will be among the first guests of the Chinese Version of Law of the Jungle alongside Kim Byung-man.

On October 29th, Tao and Yang-Mi were announced as the spokespersons for the Online game ''I'm the Sovereign'' , Tao also served as the game theme song producer.

In November, Tao made his first reality-variety TV show appearance in "Charming Daddy" on SZTV, a show where he and other 3 "fathers" experienced parenthood by raising children under aged 5 or under for a month.

Furthermore, Z.Tao was confirmed as one of the supporting characters in Jackie Chan's movie "Railroad Tigers" directed by Ding Sheng which is expected to be released in October 2016.

In December 2015, Z.Tao was announced to be the male lead in the movie "Summer, Portrait of a 19 year old", it was filmed in Taiwan and it is based on a novel from Japanese mystery writer Soji Shimada. It is expected to be released in August 2016.

On 5 December 2015, Tao won the "Best Stage Performance at the 2015 Migu Music Awards, where he performed "Reluctantly".

2016

On January 12, 2016, won the award "Most Influential Male Singer" at the 2015 Miopai Video Awards.

On January 29, Tao was invited to be one of the featured artists for "SoYoung 2016 Live concert Tour" and performed 5 of his songs: Reluctantly, Crown, M.O.M, I'm the Sovereign and Feel awake.

On March 14, 2016, Tao was confirmed as the lead in director Gao Xixi movie The Game Changer, inspired by the Chinese TV series The Bund,
