replying at AE

Hello Marlo, I'm leaving this note under WP:AGF and WP:DONTBITE. The reasons I am writing is because I see you're replyhing to people at AE in their own section. I might be wrong about this, but I think at AE they like us to keep all of our remarks, including replies, under our own section. There are various ways to do that but I usually type like this

* In reply to So-and-So, in ], blah blah blah.

* In reply to So-and-So, in ], blah blah blah.

* In reply to So-and-So, in ], blah blah blah.

which produces text like this

  • In reply to So-and-So, in this edit, blah blah blah.
  • In reply to So-and-So, in this edit, blah blah blah.
  • In reply to So-and-So, in this edit, blah blah blah.

If that approach looks reasonable to you, you'd have to supply the correct text for the DIFFs you want to highlight. Also, if you mention a user's name you may wish to include Template:Ping by typing {{Ping|Marlo Jonesa}} which renders as @Marlo Jonesa:.

New editors who demonstrate willingness to learn from feedback do reasonably well here, provided they admit mistakes, and keep calm and patient. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 21:58, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Marlo Jonesa, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. All or some of your addition(s) to Palestinians have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Misplaced Pages, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:38, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Arbitration Enforcement outcome

Hi Marlo Jonesa,

Just letting you know I've closed the Arbitration Enforcement thread here. There was consensus that your 500 sandbox edits are not in the spirit of the extended confirmed userright, so I've removed it for now. You can reapply for it at any time via WP:PERM/EC; as outlined in the closing statement I suggest that would be best done after making a substantial body of edits elsewhere in Misplaced Pages, so as to fall within the spirit of the 500/30 rule.

Happy to discuss if required., and all the best with your future editing. -- Euryalus (talk) 02:50, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Empty archives 2013-2015

Hi, recently I commented at WP:AE on your many single-character edits in your sandbox, apparently to achieve "extended confirmed" status to work in the Israel-Palestine subject area. Today I see you've added a talk page archive index in which you apparently added years all the way back to 2013, but your talk page is barely seven days old, total. Just curious what purpose is served by listing 3 years 11 months of empty archives in the index? If you just copied it from somewhere, I understand, I do that too. Suggest you may wish to format the index so that it starts in the month you created your talk page. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 16:12, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for taking care of that. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 18:16, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Non-free image use

Thank you for contributing to Misplaced Pages. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically Palestinian art, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:17, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

The images was already present in articles, such as Sliman Mansour...--Marlo Jonesa (talk) 22:58, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Each use of a non-free image is required to satisfy all 10 of Misplaced Pages's non-free content criteria regardless of how many times the file may currently be being used. If you feel that the non-free use of the files in Palestinian art is justified, then please provide a non-free use rationale for each file specific to the way it will be used in the article. The rationales should clearly show how all 10 of the criteria are being satisfied. This can be tricky sometimes because decorative use (I.e., simply wanting to show an image) is not really allowed and there has to be a strong contextual connection between article content and image, usually specific sourced content about the non-free image itself, so that the reader actually needs to see the image for the content to be properly understood. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:18, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Alright I understand, thank you.--Marlo Jonesa (talk) 23:23, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Please be careful

This as not a "Spelling/grammar correction". Please be more careful in the future that your edit summary should correspond to the edit. Debresser (talk) 16:32, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

I apologize, it was my fault.--Marlo Jonesa (talk) 17:02, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Wayback Machine

Hi, Marlo! I'd like to explain this edit (I was using a computer in which I was not comfortable signing onto my account with)

The Wayback Machine is a tool which archives websites. That particular page 404'ed (was removed) but the Wayback Machine had a copy. I was simply replacing a dead link with a live one. WhisperToMe (talk) 14:33, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello WhisperToMe, It looked like two links, so I thought it was vandalized. Regards.--Marlo Jonesa (talk) 19:57, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
I see! Anyway remember that http://wayback.archive.org/ is the url for the Wayback Machine. When you compare revisions you can see if the link is actually that, http://webcitation.org , and/or http://archive.is. You can take a moment to test the link to see if it's really what it's supposed to be. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:57, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
