The 46-hour dance marathon served as a culmination celebration of $10,621,683.73 donated the past year, all of which would go to the Four Diamonds Fund to aid research on fightining pediatric cancer.
Overview
Thon runs every year from 6pm Friday to 4pm Sunday on President's Day weekend. 700 dancers representing a diverse array of student orgs on campus come together and dance non-stop for the whole 46-hour time period. Since 2007, the event has been held in the Bryce Jordan Center. During every hour, a line dance is performed by the Dancer Relations Captaions, and the theme of the Thon 2019 line dance was Break it Down, BJC, Bring it Back to You and Me.
The event typically has several concerts spaced throughout the 46 hours. In 2019, Andy Grammer and Mason Ramsey were two of the top hits. In addition, various playful activities for the Four Diamonds families were also set up, particularly in the final four hours. 2019 was the first Thon Whiteout, where the audience and dancers got to wear a white Penn State-branded tee-shirt during the athletes pep rally.
