Darul Huda Islamic University is an Islamic university based at Chemmad in the district of Malappuram, Kerala, India. Darul Huda is a member of the League of Islamic Universities. Dr.Bahauddeen Muhammad Nadwi Qadri is the Vice Chancellor while Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal is the current Chancellor of this institution. More than a dozen Arabic Colleges for higher Islamic education are affiliated to the Dar ul-Huda. At present, the Dar ul-Huda has more than 1000 students and almost 60 teachers on its rolls.

History

Darul Huda was established in 1986 as an Islamic college, with the name Darul Huda Islamic Academy.

Faculties

Presently there are Four faculties in Darul Huda.

  • Faculty of Shariah and Usul al-Din,
  • Faculty of Languages,
  • Faculty of Humanities,
  • Faculty of sciences and Technology

Relations

Darul Huda has memberships in various federations of global Islamic Universities including Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. This helps the graduates of the University to continue their higher-study in different premier universities. Darul Huda has signed different types of Memorandum of Understandings with many Indian and international universities including International Islamic University Malaysia and with the University of Kuwait.


Achievement

It has produced a number of scholars who are acquiring good positions in India and abroad. Dr. Faisal Kp was appointed as Director of Aligarh branch of Kerala Centre and Dr. Mahmood Kooria, an Indian academician has been awarded 2,50,000 euros (2 crore rupees) Veni grant for his project 'Matriarchal Islam: Gendering Sharia in the Indian Ocean World' by University of Leiden.Many students have taken up a range of careers, including as imams in mosque, teachers in government schools, madrasas and Arabic Colleges, as well as employees in the Gulf in companies and in various religious and government institutions. Some now work as journalists in leading Malayalam magazines and newspapers. Several have gone in for higher education at regular universities—not just in Islamic Studies or Arabic, but also in such disciplines as English Literature, Journalism, Sociology, Anthropology, and Economics. A number of them are now enrolled at the Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Hamdard, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, in New Delhi, and also at the Aligarh Muslim University.


Publication

It publishes a number of journals and magazines in various languages including Thelicham’, an Islamic cultural magazine.
