Mollepata District is one of nine districts of the province Anta, in the Department of Cuzco, in Peru. It is part of the Salkantay trek, an alternative route to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, which passes through the Vilcabamba Range from Mollepata to Santa Teresa.

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (74.13%) learnt to speak in childhood, 24.83% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).
