Chess career

During the eighth round of the World Rapid Chess Championship 2023, Madaminov as black checkmated Surya Shekhar Ganguly as white in 8 moves in a Scotch Game that ended in a scholar's mate. This was a rare instance of such a checkmate occurring in a master-level game.

In February 2024, he started a Titled Tuesday tournament with a perfect score of 9/9, though failed to maintain the success through to the end of the tournament.

In July 2024, he tied for first place with Rinat Jumabayev, Leon Luke Mendonca, and Ayush Sharma in the Master Tournament MTO section of the Biel Chess Festival. He was ultimately ranked in 4th place.
