Yonatan Miller (born on June 17, 1959) is an Israeli musician. He plays on various instruments, including violin, mandolin, harmonica, flute, recorder, Double bass and mini-whistles. He was a member in the israeli successful bands "Like a gypsy", "The Surrogates" and "Whoppa Hey".
Biography
Miller was born in London and grew up in New York, USA. Started violin lessons at young age and through the years started to play jewish music and country music. on 1981, After graduation in a university in New York, He immigrated to Israel.
During his stay in Israel, he recorded and performed with many artists, such as Shuli Natan, Suzy Miller, Samir Shukri, Mirel Reznik, Moran Magal, and Yossi Lev, and for a short period he appeared with Shlomo Bar and "Habreira Hativ'it" in their show "The moon blessing". He played with the band "The Surrogates" from the end of 1981 until 2002, when the band disbanded. At the end of the 1980s, he temporarily left the band in favor of participating in the successful groups "Like a gypsy" and "Whoppa Hey" together with Yigal Bashan and Uzi Hitman, and in 1991 he participated in the pre-Eurovision 1991, as part of the group "Song Band" which came in third place with the song "Every year".
Miller appeared in "Whoppa Hey" for several years until he returned to "Surrogates". After the dissolution of "The Surrogates" he founded with his bandmate, Shai Tohner, a country-rock band called "The Grinders", which disbanded when Miller decided to return to the United States in 2004.
Some time after leaving Israel, Miller joined the Cirque Du Soleil and performed there for over a year. In 2013 he returned to Israel, after 9 years in the United States.
